    Job Description:

    The Alabama Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit at Auburn University is seeking BIOLOGICAL TECHNICIANS (8) for a multi-species inventory and conservation project on selected state-owned lands within Alabama. Primary responsibilities will include conducting avian point counts and deploying automated recording units (ARUs). Other duties will include deploying game cameras, conducting vegetation surveys, entering data, and maintaining field equipment. Candidates must be prepared to work in adverse environmental conditions, which include exposure to heat, humidity, dense vegetation, and wildlife. Technicians will be provided with housing accommodations throughout the duration of the field season. 

      

    Qualifications:

    Ideal candidates should be pursuing or hold a Bachelor's degree in a biology-related field, display high motivation, and have experience identifying birds and navigating by GPS. Possession of a valid driver's license, and the ability to work in challenging environmental conditions are essential. Candidates should be comfortable carrying light field equipment for extended periods. We give preference to those with experience identifying Southeastern birds by sight and sound. These are 3-month appointments from late April to late July 2025, offering $18/hour.
