Job Description: Great Basin Bird Observatory (GBBO) is seeking qualified avian field technicians for mortality monitoring at the Crescent Dunes Solar Facility in Tonopah, NV through the winter. Primary duties will include conducting mortality surveys 7 consecutive days each month. Additional duties include setting up/managing data from game cameras and conducting point counts.
Start date: Ideally by December 1st or as early as November 3rd. Upcoming survey dates-
November 4th- 10th
December 2nd- 8th
January 6th – 12th
*can extend beyond January if desired/availability allows
Qualifications: Applicants must have prior experience with avian monitoring, 4x4 driving, be in excellent physical condition, and be comfortable walking up to 10km a day in varying weather conditions. Experience with bird identification (visual and auditory) and field data collection using Field Maps is preferred. Good communication skills and a willingness to live and work with a field crew are essential.
Compensation: $15-$17/hr DOE. Vehicle and housing will be provided in Tonopah.
