AVIAN FIELD TECHNICIANS needed for bird surveys in Arizona. Great Basin Bird Observatory is seeking 5-6 field technicians to conduct riparian bird surveys throughout Arizona. The field season will begin approximately April 1 and run through June, with the possibility of extension into July. Duties include area searches of all breeding birds and territory mapping, with data collection on tablets and ArcGIS. The most competitive applicants will have at least one field season of experience surveying passerines by sight and sound (preferably southwestern birds). Good identification skills with Arizona birds, the ability to work in a variety of difficult conditions, good communication skills, and a proven ability to work independently are essential. This position will involve extensive travel and camping. Field vehicles will be provided. Surveyors will be hired as seasonal temporary GBBO employees and paid $2100-$2400/month depending on experience.
