    3 technicians needed from approximately April 1, 2022 to July 31, 2022 for a study of secretive marsh birds on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. This project will involve two crews: one crew conducting point count surveys for secretive marsh birds along the entire Mississippi coast and the other crew banding, nest searching, and nest monitoring for Seaside Sparrows and Clapper Rails. Duties will include: Conducting marsh bird point count surveys or banding and nest monitoring, sampling vegetation, data entry and management, as well as maintaining field equipment. Teams will be in daily communication with crew leads and the project manager. Technicians will also be tasked with daily data entry and regular backups of the database. Some activities will be strenuous with conditions in salt marshes being hot, humid, and involving biting insects. All positions will require walking in the marsh through potentially thick mud and dense vegetation. Housing will be provided. Monthly salary of $1,920.

    B.S. in wildlife, biology, zoology, ecology, or closely related field are preferred. Previous experience with point counts and/or banding, nest searching and monitoring, boat operation and maintenance, and towing trailers are desired but not all required.
