    Do you want to spend your summer in beautiful Bishop, CA? GBBO is hiring avian field biologists to conduct riparian point counts and monitor Southwestern Willow Flycatcher (SWFL) populations in the Owens River Valley. Workdays will start early, and be hot, wet, and buggy, but you will have the opportunity to work with many great people working to conserve sensitive bird species. All applicants must have prior experience with birds out west and be able to demonstrate the ability to identify birds by sight and sound. Work responsibilities include trail clearing, point counts, vegetation surveys, and SWFL monitoring surveys. In addition to riparian bird work, technicians will be conducting mortality surveys at a nearby solar facility. Data entry and proofing will be a daily responsibility. Individuals must be able to work independently as well as get along with others on a daily basis. Field vehicles and housing will be provided.

    Employment dates: April 3rd through mid-July (exact end date TBD) *partial season availability will be considered

    Salary: $2,400-$2,600 per month DOE

    *Must be able to identify all western species by sight and sound. Previous experience conducting point counts is preferred.

    *Must be organized and have excellent data management skills.

    *Must have experience using GPS units and/or ESRI mapping applications

    *Must have a valid driver's license. Experience driving 4x4 vehicles or in sandy conditions is preferred.

    *Must be able to walk up to 10 kilometers a day in potentially dense vegetation and in hot and wet conditions

    *Experience with endangered species, especially Southwestern Willow Flycatchers, is strongly preferred
