Avian field technicians needed part time through June 30, 2021 for Brown-headed Cowbird trapping and control program for the protection of endangered and threatened bird species in north San Diego County. Responsibilities include servicing traps on a daily basis to provide fresh seed and water, clean water containers, release non-target bird species, and fix traps as necessary. Must be comfortable with transporting seed, water, and birds in vehicle. The project averages 5-6 hours/day and consists of driving to various locations (some off road) to check and maintain bird traps.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be very reliable, able to work independently, be comfortable working in a field setting, and have their own vehicle (preferably an SUV or truck) and auto insurance. A basic knowledge of song bird identification is preferable. Additional training can be provided. Applicants should have an interest in birds and wildlife management, must have good communication skills, pay attention to detail, be able record data accurately, and have a cell phone with photo and texting capabilities.
Compensation: $18/hr plus onsite mileage
