Position: 3 Grassland Bird Field Technicians and 1 Crew Leader

Job Description: We are seeking highly motivated grassland bird technicians and a crew
leader to conduct surveys for grassland bird nests in central North Dakota as part of a large
grazing study. Primary duties will include nest searching, vegetation sampling, data entry and
proofing, and working with landowners to facilitate data collection. The Crew Leader will be
responsible for organizing and leading daily field schedules. Technicians will start May 18 and
continue until August 15.
After an initial training period, the crews will work independently to conduct the field work.
Applicants should have good organizational and communication skills, enthusiasm for working
outdoors in some tough weather conditions and a valid driver’s license. The crew leader should
have strong communication and team building skills. Experience locating songbird, grouse, and
duck nests and identifying birds by sight and sound is desirable.
Compensation: $13 - $15 hour depending on qualifications/position. Housing and a vehicle
for fieldwork is provided.
