My name is Nick Liadis and I am an independent avian conservation biologist based in Pittsburgh, PA. I have my own master banding permit from the BBL and currently do stopover habitat banding in spring and fall. I also do window collision work. My background in both architecture and in bird banding has supported my conservation work in urban environments.
I am looking for mutually beneficial collaborations with:
1. Non-profits/501c3s. Currently seeking a fiscal sponsor with a science organization. This contractual relationship would be between myself and the sponsoring organization, allowing me to apply for grant money that I could not access as an individual. In turn, I am an agent of the non-profit. This can be a marketable relationship. And one that we could also leverage for grant writing for a project of our own invention. If you are unfamiliar with fiscal sponsorship, please let me know if you have any questions.
and/or
2. Individuals. Broadly seeking collaborators for banding, window collision, or conservation projects. I am a creative thinker and would be interested in brainstorming with folks. If you have a seemingly endless list of bird-focused conservation ideas like myself, let's chat and see if there are any affinities. I’m driven to get things off the ground, even in atypical ways.
My hope is that a post like this might support the creation of relationships that might otherwise go unrealized. Let’s figure out how to conserve birds and their habitats and get paid doing it!
A couple more points to make about me:
- Not constrained by location.
- Enjoys thinking outside of the box.
- Open to networking.
- Bird banding training comes from the Powdermill Avian Research Center and the Point Reyes Bird Observatory (Point Blue Conservation Science)
