    Job Summary's 

    Regular, Full–Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project (MFBRP), on Makawao, Maui. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

    MONTHLY SALARY:  $3,700/Mon. 

    DUTIES:  Conducts data management and analysis duties related to mosquito control and monitoring data. Enhances database, data collection apps, data entry, creating and writing analyses and reports, and geographic information system (GIS) data management, mapping, and digitizing. Drives project vehicles to work sites. Assists in maintaining project equipment used for data collection, which includes computers, global positioning system (GPS) units, radios, tablets, and inReach devices. Assists in providing technical support for all project staff with technology equipment, database, and computer systems. Enters and validates field data into computer databases for analysis. Assists in cataloging and managing specimens and samples collected in the field. Assists in preparing data summaries and technical reports to be used for presentations or publications. Assists with procurement and travel administration for project staff. Assists with data collection in the field for the deployment of landscape-level mosquito control. Assists in planning for field operations and helicopter operations support. Assists with maintaining field equipment, field camps, vehicles, and office grounds. Assists with outreach presentations and events. Requires camping in remote areas for up to five (5) days at a time. 

    PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.
    EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3) years of experience in using a relational database and design, GIS analysis, maintenance of computer systems and associated technology, and natural resources fieldwork.
    KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of integrated data collection app design. Knowledge of design and maintenance for databases. Knowledge of Windows operating systems and troubleshooting. Understanding of general computer maintenance of hardware and software systems.
    ABILITIES & SKILLS: Proficient in GIS software (ArcPro and ArcGIS Online, PostGIS), data collection apps (Survey123), and databases (Cloud-based, Access, etc.). Ability to make database queries. Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), and other software programs for data entry, maintenance, and generating reports. Ability to understand and maintain computer hardware, software, and health to ensure maximum efficiency. Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet computer applications skills. Ability to use GPS equipment. Ability to read maps and aerial photographs and document work. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to take detailed field notes and follow a prescribed data collection system and perform data entry into spreadsheets and databases. Strong verbal communication skills. Ability to work well in a large and diverse team. Must possess a valid driver’s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver’s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i’s No-Fault Driver’s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. Post Offer/Employment Conditions: Must possess the American Red Cross Certification in First Aid/CPR (or be able to obtain the certificate following the training provided within three (3) months of hire). Must be able to complete basic helicopter safety course (A100 and A200) within six (6) months of hire.
