Fundación Jocotoco is an Ecuadorian non-governmental organization (Jocotoco) with a mission to protect areas of critical importance for the conservation of threatened species in Ecuador. Since its inception in 1998, Jocotoco has established and owns a network of 16 reserves, which together add up to >30,000 hectares. In addition, Jocotoco contributes to the management of >82,000 ha of communal and private land owned by others. Fundación Jocotoco is one of the largest conservation organizations in South America.

Jocotoco Conservation Foundation (Jocotoco US), is a US 501(c)(3) non profit created to support the work of Ecuador’s Fundación Jocotoco. With no direct field work component, the main activities of Jocotoco US consist of fundraising and donor engagement, finance and administrative operations as well as marketing and communications geared towards the US market, in support of Fundación Jocotoco’s strategy and long term vision.
This is a job posting to fill the Executive Director position with the U.S. organization – the Jocotoco Conservation Foundation.
The Executive Director is responsible for developing and implementing the strategy of Jocotoco US, as well as overseeing the daily operations and administration of Jocotoco US. The person in this position works closely with the Ecuadorian Jocotoco’s CEO, the Conservation Director, and the fundraising team. The position reports to the Board of Directors of Jocotoco US, the US organization, and involves close coordination and collaboration with the Ecuadorian Jocotoco, under the guidance of its CEO.
Location, Work Hours & Benefits
The Executive Director is based in the United States. The work can be done remotely and will involve frequent travel and longer term stays in Ecuador to work at Fundacion Jocotoco’s headquarters in Quito, including frequent field visits to the 16 reserves.
As the key representative of Jocotoco in North America it will also involve domestic travel (e.g. relevant conferences and fundraising events).
Working hours can be filled flexibly, in accordance and consultation with the Fundación Jocotoco team (Ecuador is in the same timezone as U.S. Central Time during DST and U.S. Eastern Time the rest of the year).
Salary range USD 100,000 - 120,000 depending on qualifications.
