    Position Summary: This is a part-time, 25 hours per week, position with American Bird Conservancy (ABC) in Michigan. ABC is a results-focused wildlife non-profit seeking employees with an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to make a difference for birds throughout the Americas. The position is responsible to the Coordinator Subcommittee of the Kirtland’s Warbler Conservation Team, the Coordinator will guide overall strategic and operational decision making for Conservation Team priorities, structure, governance and execution of its mission. The Coordinator will develop and keep knowledge of relationships, core programs, emerging needs, and conservation business planning as it relates to the full life cycle of the Kirtland’s Warbler and its associated habitats. Primary Duties: Leadership and Management • Develop, maintain and support a strong Kirtland’s Warbler Steering Committee (Steering Committee) and Kirtland’s Warbler Conservation Team (KWCT) structure by facilitating communication • Plan and facilitate monthly Steering Committee calls and intermittent conversations • Take meeting notes, distribute them to KWCT and post them to the KWCT Google Drive • Serve as an ex-officio member of all priority and ad hoc subcommittees to increase effectiveness of committees and conservation team  Facilitate discussions among subcommittee leads as necessary  Monitor timelines and identify resources to meet strategic goals • Import lessons learned from KW and other recovery teams to KWCT • Prepare meeting notes from various participants for the Steering Committee and Subcommittees  Maintain and organize KWCT and Subcommittee records and information  Maintain active list of Steering Committee KWCT, subcommittee membership and those actively involved in Kirtland’s Warbler conservation efforts Actively engage and energize KWCT, Steering Committee members, subcommittee members, and those actively involved in Kirtland’s Warbler conservation efforts • Lead collaboration with KWCT and partners to steward and implement conservation and business plan(s), including review and update of overall budget and priority tasks, • Tracking completion, and adjusting priorities and timelines as needed • Participate in partner meetings and discussions as necessary to share information, build new partnerships, and coordinate/align priorities • Plan and facilitate webinars, workshops and web meetings as needed • Plan and facilitate face-to-face/virtual meetings of the full KWCT (two meetings per year) to move forward priorities and ensure participation across the full life cycle/associated habitats • Arrange meeting space and needs (technology, food, costs, lodging, collecting, processing and accounting of fees, etc.) • Ensure regular evaluation of efforts, programs, and priorities within an adaptive management context, course correcting as needed Communication and Administration • Act as main point of contact for Kirtland’s Warbler partnership related-communication (i.e., general inquiries, archive and circulate research papers and management plans) • Maintain an up-to-date distribution/mailing list for communication across the KWCT structure as well as out to active partners • Ensure the KWCT website and social media page(s) remain up-to-date, serve the needs they were intended for, and are meeting communication goals • Manage meeting collaboration and communications platforms (web-based, conference lines, website domains, etc.) • Ensure annual accomplishment reporting • Coordinate all aspects of external communications • Work with Agencies and NGOs to meet with local organizations and individuals in northern Michigan to provide information on the Kirtland’s warbler program and solicit feedback and build support. • Assist with education and outreach. • Coordinate and/or develop and circulate educational materials.


    Position Requirements • Passionate about wildlife conservation. • Bachelor's degree and at least three years’ experience in wildlife conservation, communications, marketing, or related work, or a combination of relevant education and experience. • Excellent writing and oral communication skills. • Excellent organizational skills and successful experience managing multiple activities. • Entrepreneurial outlook. • Proficiency with computers and use of Microsoft Office software. Proficiency in graphic and website design a plus. • Ability to work independently, efficiently and accurately, while maintaining deadlines. • Ability to lead a team and work well as part of a team. • Ability to work with a wide range of people at all levels. • Willingness to work remotely. • Willingness to travel throughout Michigan with occasional travel outside the state. • Willingness to work some nights and weekends. • Ability to maintain confidentiality of partner information. • Must have a driver’s license.
