I am seeking applications for one PhD student to join the Conservation Ecology Research group I lead at the Environmental Studies department at the University of California, Santa Cruz in Fall 2022. Candidates should have experience with independent field research on birds, with a preference for applicants who have worked in tropical regions. Preferred applicants will have completed a master’s degree or have had a few years of independent research experience. To apply, please email your CV and a one-page application letter answering the following questions: 1) describe previous academic and research training, particularly independent research; 2) what types of research questions would you pursue during your PhD?; 3) what are your career goals and why is a PhD important in reaching those goals? 4) why did you choose the Environmental Studies graduate program at UCSC and our research group in particular? to nocampop@ucsc.edu no later than Nov 30th. UCSC graduate applications close Dec 10th.
