    Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to participate in a project
    evaluating the impacts of high impact short duration grazing on nesting birds (primarily
    songbirds but also grouse and ducks). The successful applicant will be responsible for
    leading field crews (3 to 8 people), working with landowners and cooperating agencies,
    maintaining and proofing data, conducting analysis on nesting bird and vegetation
    responses to grazing practices, and providing outreach about the project for local
    landowner groups. Funding is available for a pilot year (summer 2020) and three
    subsequent field seasons. Students will be encouraged to consider additional components
    of the project that fit their interests and will enhance project deliverables.

    Start Date: Pilot year of field data collection will begin May 15th and PhD position will
    officially begin in Fall 2020.

    Qualifications: M.S. degree in wildlife biology, zoology, rangeland management, or related
    field. GREs are required. Preference will be given to students with a background in
    grassland birds, population modeling, prairie ecology, and/or rangeland management.
    The successful applicant will also need to be highly motivated, passionate about avian
    ecology and management, and possess strong organizational and communication skills.
    Compensation: $2400/month + tuition waiver
