We are seeking an outstanding student to advance our long-term research program studying a community of Wisconsin vertebrates to study the impacts of climate change on winter specialists – snowshoe hares and ruffed grouse. The student’s thesis will involve collecting data in the field and from museums and analyzing photographs and demographic datasets. The assistantship will begin in the fall of 2020. The student will be advised by Dr. Jonathan Pauli (http://labs.russell.wisc.edu/pauli/) and Dr Benjamin Zuckerberg (http://labs.russell.wisc.edu/zuckerberg/). The project includes an annual stipend, plus tuition remission and health care benefits.
Applicants must have a BS degree in biology, ecology, forestry, wildlife, or other related discipline. A working knowledge of population ecology and statistics are sought, and field experience in capturing, handling and processing birds is required. Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills are essential.
