Are you curious about why some birds thrive in cities while so many others do not? We're looking for an MSc or PhD student to join our Urban Birds of Ontario project (https://bonierlab.com/urban-birds-of-ontario) in 2021. For an MSc, the project will involve increasing an existing citizen science database, developing public outreach and education materials (online and in person, pandemic-permitting), and analysis of our existing dataset on the urban birds of Ontario aimed at understanding variation in avifaunas among cities, as well as variation in responses to urban habitats among bird species. The MSc can  involve limited field-based research, though that won't be central to the project. For a PhD student, the project will include all of the above, plus field-based research developed by the student in collaboration with the PI, under the broad aim of understanding why species vary in their responses to urban habitat.

Interested candidates should email Dr. Fran Bonier (bonierf@queensu.ca) with a cv and transcript (unofficial is ok).
