An earned Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field is required at the time of the appointment. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. The department offers B.S. and M.S. degree programs. Position one is in Genetics: the research specialty is open but candidates using computational approaches are preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing courses in Genetics and Computational Biology and develop new curricula in his/her specialties that target undergraduate and graduate students.
Position two is in the area of Ecology/Evolution: candidates with active research with any taxon or organismal level in symbiosis (parasitism, mutualism, commensalism) are preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing courses in ecology and evolution and develop new curricula in his/her specialties that target undergraduate and graduate students.
To apply: Send by email a cover letter, vita, statement of teaching philosophy, statement of research goals, unofficial transcripts, and arrange for three original letters of recommendation to be sent to either snichadhain@southalabama.edu (Genetics) or jmata@southalabama.edu (Ecology/Evolution). (Applicants invited for a campus interview will arrange to have official graduate and undergraduate transcripts sent directly by the Registrars of all colleges attended to the Department of Biology). Review of applications will begin December 3, 2018, and continue until positions are filled.
