    Berry Ecology Center Laboratory Manager


    The Berry Ecology Center is run by Dr. Tarwater, the newly appointed Robert B. Berry Distinguished Chair, who is seeking support to get several new initiatives benefitting undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Wyoming off the ground. Drs. Tarwater, Kelley, and Goheen conduct research in Central America and Africa, and also need support associated with running their labs. This could potentially include coordinating the operational, financial and personnel functions of a designated project under limited supervision; providing training to staff and/or program participants; and assisting the assigned department/division/college with other related project functions.


    Aid in the development of new initiatives associated with the Berry Ecology Center, including organizing workshops, invited speakers, mini-conferences, and a summer research program for undergraduates.

    Maintain an Ornithology website and social media.

    Aid in logistics associated with research, including aiding in permits, equipment purchasing, graduate students and field technician payments, and other logistics as needed.


    Design a new Ornithology website and manage social media.

    Potential for some time outdoors in Laramie helping undergraduate students with research on birds, if so desired.

    May perform additional assignments as directed.


    This position requires the successful candidate to be available to work on campus, with flexibility to work at home up to 2 days/week.


    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in a related field

    Experience: 1 year work-related experience

    Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: 

    Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.


    Demonstrated clear, articulate, and respectful written and oral communication skills

    Experience and demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as a team

    Effective time management skills, clear organization and prioritization of time-sensitive tasks

    Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office

    Excitement about starting new initiatives to help students

    Patience and humor when it comes to dealing with logistics
