The Department of Environmental Sciences (EVS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is seeking a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in Avian Field Ecology with emphasis in Wildlife Conservation and Management starting August 2021. The successful candidate will be required to create and maintain a robust research agenda focused on applied avian community ecology leading to resource management and conservation. Preferred candidates will focus on the management and conservation of waterfowl, upland game birds, and/or waterbirds. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester including Avian Field Methods for Conservation, Community Environmental Ecology, either Introduction to Environmental Sciences or Global Environmental Issues, and at least one course in their specialized area. Service requirements to the department, college, university, the community, and their profession are also expected.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree, or equivalent, by the start of the Fall 2021 semester in Wildlife Ecology or Conservation, Environmental Science, or a closely related field. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to generate externally funded research, publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and maintain a strong commitment to teaching and working in an interdisciplinary academic context.
