GENERAL INFORMATION
The Department of Biology at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment to begin in August 2020. We seek candidates committed to excellence in teaching, with demonstrated ability to teach a diverse range of students with regard to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, (dis)abilities, and nationality. The successful candidate will teach BIOL 162 (Introduction to Mechanisms of Multicellular Organisms), Comparative Vertebrate Morphology, an additional course for biology majors, and a course for non-science majors. The candidate will also be expected to establish a productive research program in vertebrate organismal biology that is well-suited to undergraduate participation. We expect that the successful candidate will bring expertise to the department in one or more related fields, such as biomechanics, paleobiology, physiology, animal behavior, or biology of a particular vertebrate group. Please note that the department’s capabilities for supporting live animal research are limited, and individuals who require live animal facilities should contact the search chair before applying.
This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a full-salary one-semester research leave prior to tenure review, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. Tenure track faculty are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs within the College’s published policies. QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must hold a PhD in a relevant field of biology. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching at the introductory and advanced levels as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field. The successful candidate will have published scholarship and show promise in establishing an independent research program involving undergraduate students.
