nathanwands Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 The James Smithson Fellowship Program (https://fellowships.si.edu/opportunity/james-smithson-fellowship-program) is now accepting applications for one-year postdoctoral fellowships based in Washington, D.C. The theme of the program this year is migration, defined broadly. Nathan Cooper (https://nationalzoo.si.edu/about/staff/nathan-w-cooper) and upcoming staff member Scott Yanco (http://www.scottyanco.com/) of the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center are interested in mentoring James Smithson Fellows on a broad range of topics related to migration including, but not limited to: migration phenology, full annual cycle population modeling, migratory connectivity, and niche ecology. We have existing datasets related to these topics that may be available. Other staff at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center and Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute (https://nationalzoo.si.edu/conservation) are also interested in mentoring fellows. Applications are due on February 15, 2025. Instructions to apply can be found here: https://fellowships.si.edu/james-smithson-fellowship. Applicants must identify a research advisor and contact them ahead of time to be competitive for the fellowship. Applicants must spend the majority of the fellowship in residence in Washington, DC. If you are interested in discussing potential proposals please email Nathan (coopern@si.edu) and Scott (syanco@umich.edu) and attach a current CV and indicate the topic(s) in which you are most interested.
