Kyle Horner Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Apologies for the slightly late announcement, I'm sure some are already well aware but others may not be! The State of Canada's Birds was launched in October, and is a partnership between Birds Canada and Environment and Climate Change Canada. This online resource features a comprehensive summary report and individual accounts for the 463 species of birds that regularly occur in Canada. The State of Canada's Birds pairs the best, currently-available data (much of it from Birds Canada's NatureCounts platform) with expert analysis to represent the best state of our knowledge on birds in Canada today. Though the State of Canada's Birds is online-only, every effort has been made to make it usable and citable. The report and species accounts are versioned, and each assigned a DOI (recommended citations and DOIs can be found at the bottom of each page). The complete methodology is also available on the website. The trends and charts featured in the accounts can be easily downloaded, and much of the raw data is available through NatureCounts. If you are looking for information on the status and distribution of birds in Canada, the State of Canada's Birds is an indispensable resource! Whether for conservation work, research, or just personal interest, it is well worth exploring the information-packed accounts and beautifully illustrated report. https://naturecounts.ca/nc/socb-epoc/main.jsp Thanks all!
