Laura Bies Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 The Canadian Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada recently assessed the status of five species for the first time, all of which were determined to warrant protection under the Canadian Species at Risk Act, including the Short-billed Dowitcher. Currently, there are 860 species protected by the Act. The committee also considered the status of seven species already listed, and moved three of those to a lower risk category. More details about the species assessed and the results of those assessment are available here. Read the press release from COSEWIC.
