Annie
2021 Virtual Workshops: I am pleased to announce that Powdermill Nature Reserve will be holding three “Ageing Birds via Molt Limits” VIRTUAL workshops in early 2021: January 16-18 (wait list only!), February 13-15, and March 5-7. Each workshop will begin in the morning on the first day and end in the afternoon on the third day. Because this is a virtual workshop, there will not be a hands-on component, however we will have up-close instruction on ageing and sexing birds, and banding techniques, using high quality videos and photographs taken during normal banding operations. This will be complimented with presentations and discussions about banding methodology, molt terminology including discussion of molt cycles, using molt limits in ageing birds, how to use the Pyle Guide, scientific use of banding data, and ethics and permitting. The focus of this workshop is to train participants to recognize molt limits and to age and sex passerines. The cost is $150 per person and will be taught by an NABC-certified Trainer and follow NABC principles, standards, and ethics. To express interest in one of these workshops, please fill out the following Google Form: http://goo.gl/forms/kaQiLhs1aZ Space in each workshop is limited, so please fill out the google form soon. In the coming weeks, our Banding Program Manager will contact those eligible for the workshop with an invitation to register along with additional instructions.
