AOS Student Membership Awards

Student Membership Awards Competition for the American Ornithological Society

Deadline:

Applications are due before January 1

Award Description:

The American Ornithological Society (AOS) is the new, merged society of the American Ornithologists’ Union (AOU) and the Cooper Ornithological Society (COS). The AOS provides one-year student membership awards to qualified undergraduate or graduate students from anywhere in the world interested in pursuing a career in ornithology. Membership awards provide full membership in the AOS, including an online subscription to The Auk: Ornithological AdvancesThe Condor: Ornithological Applications, online access to Birds of North America, plus all of the other benefits of membership. Only student members of the AOS are eligible to apply for student travel, presentation, and research awards of the AOS. The AOS reserves the right to limit the number of membership awards provided during one academic year.

To Apply:

  • Applicants must have no current or prior membership in the AOS, or the American Ornithologists’ Union, or the Cooper Ornithological Society
  • Applicants must provide a resume or curriculum vitae describing their current degree program, the expected date of completion, their academic or work experience, and their interests in ornithology (electronic documents only please)
  • Applicants must have their academic advisor to provide a short note indicating support for the application, on institutional letterhead from the institution in which the student is currently enrolled (electronic documents only please)
  • Applications may be submitted any time prior to January 1
