New since 2015: The prize is dividedinto two categories:1) For PhD and Postdocs. The 'main' prize is endowed with *500 EUR*(currently about 550$), the following prizes will be MCED textbooks.2) For bachelor and Master students. The best nominee in this categorywill win *250 EUR* (currently about 275$), the following prizes will beMCED textbooks.The intention of the award is to foster the development and applicationof modern ecological modeling methods that can help to expand theunderstanding of complex ecological dynamics. With this focus, the MCEDaward follows the eponymous textbook for ecological modeling which hasbeen published by Springer Publishing House and which provides acurriculum for ecological modeling for students, either for a universitycourse or for self-learning.The MCED editors together with Springer Publishing House invite youngecologists who:- analyze ecological phenomena using ecological modeling approaches inan innovative way.- apply new modeling methods and techniques and thereby contribute toapplied or theoretical ecology- use modeling frameworks to bridge the gap between basic science andapplication enhance the understanding of complex ecological processesand dynamicsAs application, please mail-in the form which is available onwww.mced-ecology.org under the section award. A committee, formed by theeditors, the president of the GfÖ (Ecological Society of Germany,Austria and Switzerland) and representatives of the GfÖ Young ModelersGroup will decide on the submitted proposals by mid of August. The awardceremony will be held during the next GfÖ-Conference in Marburg,Germany.
