LANDIS-II Training Session in Portland, OR this July

Recommended Posts

*Registration has started for the upcoming LANDIS-II training in Portland,
Oregon. *

*We are now registering participants for our LANDIS-II training session.
LANDIS-II is a widely-used forest simulation model, which simulates forest
succession, disturbance (including fire, wind, harvesting, insects),
climate change, and seed dispersal across large landscapes *((
http://www.landis-ii.org/)). LANDIS-II tracks the spatial distribution of
tree and shrub species and has flexible spatial and temporal resolutions.

This 2-day training will be held on the Friday (*July 10th)* and
Saturday (*July
11th*) immediately following the *IALE World Congress* (
http://www.ialeworldcongress.org/) on the campus of Portland State
University, just few blocks from the conference. Basic training costs $300
and the course will be taught by LANDIS-II developers Dr. Melissa Lucash,
Brian Miranda, Alec Kretchun and Dr. Robert Scheller. *During the intensive
2-day training, we will cover parameterization, landscape simulation, and
analysis of outputs. *

All the profits from the training support the LANDIS-II Foundation, which
helps fund model improvements. Training comes with a complimentary copy of
the new LANDIS-II training manual just released in April, 2015. Housing is
available nearby for an additional cost at the University Place Portland (
http://universityplaceportland.com/).

*Register by emailing Dr. Melissa Lucash directly at lucash@pdx.edu
. *Please register early as training is limited to 20
participants. https://sites.google.com/site/landismodel/meetings

Melissa
