Fern Davies
The Smithsonian houses AOU's historical archives along with the papers of notable ornithologists who called the Smithsonian home, including Robert Ridgway. Now, the Smithsonian's chief archivist is seeking help from AOU members to help "tag" hundreds of Robert Ridgway’s sketches (almost entirely bird heads) with text from the labels that can be used as search terms. The archivist has loaded the completed images to the SI Transcription Center to glean text from his labels and notes so they can be searchable. If you'd like to help, check out the project website: https://transcription.si.edu/project/7544 Click here: https://transcription.si.edu/project/7509?status=transcription to see the images that still need review and transcription. Specific instructions on how to review and transcribe the drawings. Questions?
