Peafowl Flock Needs a Home

Jessica Yorzinski

Recommended Posts

I am completing a behavioral research project with peafowl and need to find a new home for my flock (30 peahens and 13 peacocks). Ideally, I would find a temporary home for the entire flock with the possibility of getting them back in several years. They are currently located in West Lafayette, Indiana.

A note to all about what to do with research animals at the end of a project...if non-native species, your state laws probably prohibit release. Check your permit and check with your state wildlife agency. Also be sure to check the protocol approval you obtained from your IACUC. If disposition of the animals is different from what they approved, you will need to notify them. If it is a significant modification, they will likely require you to submit a justification for the change.
