Melanie Colón
Great Backyard Bird Count February 13-16, 2015 www.BirdCount.org http://www.birdcount.org/> I would like to invite you (and your students) to participate in the upcoming citizen science project, the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). This annual event led by Audubon, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and partner Bird Studies Canada asks people of all ages and abilities to count their local birds and submit their observations online at www.BirdCount.org http://www.birdcount.org/>. Participation is fun, free, and easy and takes as little as fifteen minutes. Simply register for an account on the program website, review the participation instructions, then go out and count all of the birds you are able to identify and report your results online. Your observations, together with hundreds of thousands of others from around the world, contribute to our understanding of global bird distribution and abundance. Regular eBird users can continue submitting their results to eBird.org during the count to participate. We hope you will consider participating in this exciting program, and if you’re interested in helping to promote the count in your local area you can find more information and resources to help you spread the word here: http://gbbc.birdcount.org/spread-the-word/ For more information about the Great Backyard Bird Count please contact me at zslavin@audubon.org. Sincerely, Zach Slavin
