Chris Merkord
Geolocation data analysis workshop 2014 We will organize a workshop on light-level geolocation data analysis in November 2014. The workshop will be held at the Swiss Ornithological Institute from 18th November to 20th November 2014 (3 days). The main aims are: an introduction into the principles of geolocation by light, factors affecting the light measurements in terrestrial birds, and the consequences for positioning. We will further provide step-by step analysis starting from raw light data to final positions, including different calibration methods, determination of movement/stationary periods, outlier definitions and the visual presentation of results. The analysis will be carried out on example data provided by the organizers, but own data are also welcome. Main tool is the R package GeoLight. Costs: 200 CHF, reduction for participants from low income countries is possible.
