We are looking for two individuals who are in interested in assisting with fieldwork associated with two ongoing M.S. projects examining survival rates and resource selection of northern bobwhite adults and broods. The research site is located in the North Carolina Coastal Plain near Wilmington, NC. The work would involve tracking (via radio telemetry) bobwhites to determine resource use and survival, locating nests and broods, capturing bobwhite chicks, minimal data entry, and other duties assigned. Applicants should be prepared to work in/around: adverse weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain), biting insects, and a variety of operations associated with large-scale land management. In addition, applicants should be comfortable with regular heavy lifting (~50 lbs) and a long, irregular work schedule.

 

Additionally, applicants should submit materials early for all positions, which are open until filled.

 

Internship positions are 16 weeks in length, start and end dates are flexible.
Preference will be given to candidates who can start immediately. Qualifications Applicants should already have or be working towards a B.S. in wildlife ecology or related field. Consideration will also be given to recently graduated individuals interested in gaining more field experience. Previous fieldwork, handheld device experience, and ATV experience is beneficial, but not required. Individuals need a valid driver’s license and must have a good driving record.
