Bird Banding Coordinator – Colorado
Agency Bird Conservancy of the Rockies Location Brighton, CO with periodic travel throughout CO Job Category Full time Positions Salary $40,000 -$42,000 annualized commensurate with experience Start Date 12/01/2017 Last Date to Apply 10/15/2017 Website https://birdconservancy.org/ Description Serves as Bird Conservancy’s Master Bander, setting and carrying out the vision of the organization’s banding operations. Position will be three-quarter time, exempt and with annualized salary. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Overseeing and managing the necessary permits to capture and band wild birds • Coordinating, staffing, supplying and managing all banding stations • Ensure banding data recorded, collected and submitted accurately for further data analysis Other Duties: • Ensure banding stations meet educational objectives • Other duties as assigned Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience required (unless otherwise noted): • Must possess or be qualified to obtain a Master Permit from the Bird Banding Lab. • Extensive knowledge of bird banding and operations, from set-up to data analysis • 4+ years’ experience banding birds • 2+ years’ experience supervising volunteers and staff • Bachelors of Science degree in biology or related field; Masters degree a plus • Advanced knowledge of avian biology and bird migration, in-hand identification, ageing, and sexing of North American Passerines and Near-passerines • Proficient in Bandit Bird Banding 4.0 software/database, • Proficient in Microsoft Office • Demonstrated experience with delivering scientific messages to diverse audiences, both oral and written • Proven ability to cultivate relationships with general public, partners, and colleagues • Strength in managing multiple projects and tasks with little direct guidance • Enthusiastic, resourceful team player; self-motivated and results-oriented To Apply: Send cover letter and resume with at least three references (names, phone numbers, and email addresses), in a single document to email@example.com Contact Person Jenny Berven Contact eMail firstname.lastname@example.org
