    Shorebird Monitor Supervisor (Seasonal)

    The purpose of this position is to perform supervisory, administrative, and biological field work in the management of the town’s Endangered Species Program with a focus on listed shorebirds, (Charadrius melodus) and least tern (Sternula antillarum), ways to the water, shoreline, nature resources, and in the enforcement or applicable federal, state and local laws, bylaws and rules and regulations. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties. Applicants should have a B.S. or B.A. or higher in wildlife biology/management or related field. A minimum of two years professional experience in similar field. Strong knowledge of shorebird management and conservation techniques. Thorough understanding of Federal and State Endangered Species Acts, Massachusetts Barrier Beach guidelines and Federal Barrier Beach guidelines. Experience in behavioral data collection and management skills, including wildlife tracking and coastal wildlife management issues. Supervisory experience preferred. Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, subordinate employees, the public, governmental agencies and ability to carry out specific tasks as assigned by the Lead Monitor Supervisor and the Natural Resource Officers required, as well as an interest and willingness to learn about the Duxbury Beach Management and Habitat Conservation Plan. Monitor Supervisors will be required to find their own housing. The schedule is variable April-August, 6:00am-2:00pm, 12:00pm-8:00pm to include weekends, holidays, and evening hours.
