    Monitoring and management of at-risk beach nesting birds, including piping plover, American Oystercatcher, least tern, black skimmers at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, New Jersey from ~ April 1 - August 2019. Tracking nesting birds from territorial behavior to nesting to fledgling of chicks. Resighting of banded birds. Crew leader will head up a team of 5 technicians and will be expected to oversee daily scheduling, manage data collection and electronic database, update partners regularly (including near daily contact with off-site supervisor), coordinate work between Refuge staff and other partners, and complete extensive year-end report. Access to nesting sites is generally via boat. Monitoring 5 days a week, work conditions can include extreme weather, extensive walking in soft sand, and carting of heavy equipment.

    Undergraduate degree in wildlife ecology, biology, or conservation science or related work experience. Previous experience working with beach nesting birds (or similar species) is preferred. Previous experience overseeing a crew or wildlife project is preferred, but this is also an opportunity for the right person to gain that next-level experience. Having completed federal Motorboat Operator Certification Course (MOCC) is a big plus. Ability to use a scope to resight banded birds is a plus. Must possess smart phone (to use in field to collect data). Must possess driver's license. Email resume, cover letter, and three references to todd.pover@conservewildlifenj.org.
