Seeking avian scientists to advise on the NEON project

Interested in avian data from across the US available for free and with related ecological data collected in the same location? The National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) is a continental-scale ecological observation facility, sponsored by the National Science Foundation and operated by Battelle, that gathers and synthesizes data on the impacts of climate change, land use change and invasive species on natural resources and biodiversity. This data includes avian point count surveys at sites across the US including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico! NEON is fully funded by the NSF and all NEON data and resources are freely available to enable users to tackle scientific questions at scales not accessible to previous generations of ecologists.  Check out NEON avian data: http://data.neonscience.org/data-product-view?dpCode=DP1.10003.001

NEON relies on community engagement to ensure we are serving the needs of the ecological community.  Are you interested in ensuring that NEON is a valuable resource for your research? Consider joining the Bird Technical Working Group (TWG) and help shape NEON science and data. We rely on almost two dozen TWGs to advise on the NEON project. Each advisory group work on topics ranging from data standards to specific collection methods. The overarching objective of TWGs is to ensure that the design and operation of the observatory is based upon sound scientific rationale and good engineering practice. TWG members also help make certain that NEON infrastructure, data and programs are a valuable community resource. To do this most effectively, we are seeking TWG nominees that represent a diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and career stages.  Nominate yourself or someone else today (http://www.neonscience.org/twg-nomination-form).
