Ornithology Exchange (brought to you by the Ornithological Council)

The latest issue of AFO Afield is out!

Recommended Posts

The most recent issue of the Association of Field Ornithologist’s biannual newsletter, AFO Afield is now available for download. In this issue, we provide highlights of the Ornithological Congress of the Americas that was held in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina in August, 2017. In so doing, we present the recipients of the AFO Student Presentation Awards and of the Skutch Medal, and provide other highlights of this incredibly successful inaugural meeting (including some stunning photos!). In addition, the North American Banding Council provide insight into one of their AFO-sponsored workshops that was held following the Congress and that introduced many Latin Ornithologists to bird banding, and we welcome new AFO Council members that were elected during the Congress - welcome Drs. David Aborn, Mary Garvin, and Sarah Sargent (Class of 2020)! We also showcase the fantastic research of 5 Latin American recipients of the AFO's Bergstrom Award, and provide an obituary to the late George Mock, long time ornithologist and Treasurer of AFO. Finally, we provide information for our annual meeting to be held jointly with the Wilson Ornithological Society (WOS) in Chattanooga from the 7-9th June. To download the most recent copy of AFO Afield, please visit: http://afonet.org/wp_english/about/newsletter/
