The next session of the Cornell Bioacoustics Research Program’s Sound Analysis Workshop will take place 2 – 6 April 2018 at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, New York, USA.

The workshop is intended primarily for biologists interested in analysis, visualization, and measurement of animal sounds. The workshop covers basic principles of spectrographic analysis and measurement of animal sounds, as well as specific tools and techniques in Raven Pro, a sound analysis application program developed at Cornell.

Two scholarship positions are available for this session to cover tuition, lodging, and two meals per day; scholarships do not cover travel expenses. Only residents of low-income and middle-income countries as defined by the World Bank are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Scholarships are reserved for participants planning to apply the principles and methods of animal bioacoustics in fields such as ecology, animal behavior, or conservation biology. We particularly encourage applications from graduate students and faculty, as well as staff of relevant government agencies or non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
