For those who would like to spend some additional time in Iceland we have set up pre-meeting and post-meeting tours the days before and after the conference. A pre-meeting tour is August 4-7 (3 nights / 4 days) and takes you to North West Iceland. You will have the chance to visit Flatey and Látrabjarg and see one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls, Dynjandi. For post-meeting tours, we have two options: Tour 1: August 13-16 (3 nights/4 days) Lake Mývatn, the lake and its surrounding wetlands which have an exceptionally rich fauna of waterbirds, especially waterfowl. Tour 2: August 13-15 (2 nights / 3 days) Vestmannaeyjar and the Southern lowland. On this tour, we will visit the beautiful Westman Islands, rich in history and birdlife. During the tour you will visit spectacular sites in Southern Iceland like Gullfoss and Þingvellir (Thingvellir).

For information on field trips and tours during the conference please visit the registration site. https://icelandtravel.artegis.com/event/WaterbirdSociety2017

Daily morning birding trips will be offered as well as a full day trip on August 12th.

You will find information on venue, program, accommodations and Reykjavik on the registration site among other useful information. We encourage you to book your accommodations soon as Reykjavik is a popular destination during August and accommodations may become limited as we get closer to the meeting.

We look forward seeing you in Reykjavik in August.
