Student and Post-doc Travel Awards
Limited funding will be available to defray travel expenses for undergraduates, graduate students and post-docs attending NAOC 2016.

Student Presentation Awards
A number of awards will be given for the best student presentations, both oral and poster, on the last day of NAOC 2016. A committee comprised of representatives from all the host societies will judge the presentations, and awards will be based on the quality of the research as well as the clarity and presentation of the paper.

To be eligible for travel and student presentation awards, applicants must be:

  1. An active member by the due date of the NAOC2016 travel and student presentation award applications of at least one of the ornithological societies participating in the conference (American Ornithologists’ Union; Association of Field Ornithologists; BirdsCaribbean; Cooper Ornithological Society; Sociedad de Ornitología Neotropical; Sociedad para el Estudio y Conservación de las Aves en México (CIPAMEX); Society of Canadian Ornithologists–Société des Ornithologistes du Canada; Wilson Ornithological Society. (Not a member of any of these societies? Use the hyperlinks to join now!)
  2. A currently enrolled student at the undergraduate, Masters, or PhD level at the time of application, or have graduated the semester prior to the meeting (completed their degree in 2016).
  3. Post-docs may apply for travel awards only. To be eligible, applicants must be a member of the AOU or the AFO and have graduated more than a semester prior to the meeting (completed their degree in 2015).
  4. Applicants must be the first, and presenting author, of a contributed oral or poster presentation. Presentations may include additional co-authors, and individual talks in symposia are also eligible for travel and presentation awards.

Application Details
All applications for student and post-doc travel awards and student presentation awards MUST be submitted through the NAOC 2016 Abstract Management System. Applications must include an extended abstract (500-word limit) that can include 1 table or 1 figure. Student applicants will also need to make sure their advisor submits a statement indicating that the student is in good academic standing.
