Greetings! The North Pacific Research Board (NPRB) announces commencement of competition for the 2015 Graduate Student Research Awards. Online submission will begin on Friday, December 15, 2014. Applications are due on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 4 pm Alaska Standard Time. NPRB funds marine research to improve understanding of the ecosystems of the Gulf of Alaska, Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands, and Chukchi/Beaufort Seas and to enable effective management and sustainable use of these vital marine resources. NPRB established a graduate student research award program to encourage students to pursue scientific and scholarly research. In May 2015, NPRB will award six Graduate Student Research Awards of $25,000 each to qualified students to support research that addresses scientific, technological, and socio-economic issues relating to the research themes identified in the http://www.nprb.org/assets/images/uploads/science_plan_nov05_low.pdf>2005 NPRB Science Plan. Award funds may be used for graduate student stipend and standard benefits, tuition or required university fees, or for specific research expenses such as travel, supplies, and laboratory analyses. To be eligible for an NPRB Graduate Student Research Award, students must be enrolled in or accepted by a graduate degree program at an accredited university or college by the application deadline.
