2014 Joint Annual Meeting of Washington Chapter-The Wildlife Society (WA-TWS), Society for Northwestern Vertebrate Biology (SNVB), 4th International Burrowing Owl Conference (BUOWC), Researchers Implementing Conservation Action (RICA), Northwest Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (NWPARC), 3-7 Feb 2014, at Red Lion Inn, Pasco, Washington.

This meeting will promote effective implementation of conservation practices and programs among natural resource professionals, land owners, managers, and cooperators and funders supporting such work. The Meeting Theme, supported by workshops, technical sessions, and an emphasis on people, practices, programs, and land, will encourage important interactions for conservation delivery.

We invite abstracts for presentations and poster sessions, workshop concepts, mini-symposia proposals, and ideas for other facets of the program. All topics in wildlife, vertebrate biology, and conservation programs and practices are welcomed, although emphasis will be placed on:

  • The meeting theme
  • Successful conservation programs and practices
  • Partnering with federal/state/county conservation agencies and programs
  • Working with conservation districts, agricultural extension professionals, and NGOs
  • Maintenance of habitat connectivity and ecosystem function in modified landscapes
  • Burrowing Owls and other Raptors
  • Understanding wildlife values in human communities
  • Emerging technologies in conservation and management
  • Channeled scabland habitats and wildlife
  • Population and ecological genetics
  • Application of research findings to conservation and management practices

An additional program goal is to encourage strong participation by professionals with NRCS, FSA, Conservation Districts, Agricultural Extension, NGOs, producer groups, and other land management stakeholder groups that are important partners in conservation. Ideas on ways to accomplish this goal are welcome, and should be submitted to A.J. Kroll: aj.kroll@weyerhaeuser.com
