How does the validation process work on the Ornithology Exchange?

When you register you are sent an email containing a validation link. Clicking this link ensures that you entered your email address correctly, and that your email address was not registered by another person. After validitating your email address, a Site Admin will check your name against the membership databases of the participating societies and organizations. This usually takes anywhere from a few minutes to several days depending on the availability of a Site Admin to approve your membership. Members of a participating society are placed in the Members group, all others are placed in the Guests group.

What do I do if I lost or did not receive my validation request email?

First try resending the validation email. If you do not receive the email soon, check your spam folder. If you still do not receive the validation email, then email a Site Administrator and ask to be validated manually.

What parts of the Ornithology Exchange can I access while I am still awaiting Admin Validation?

You can access the same parts of the site as Guests, but you may not be able to post or reply in some forums or add records to some databases.
